Ages 15+. Through this course, you’ll learn to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatics emergencies and learn how to care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illness until emergency medical services (EMS) personnel take over.
At the start of the first day, participants must pass a pre-course session that includes: 150-yard swim, 2-minute tread with no hands, and swim 50 yards. Also retrieve a 10 lb. brick and return with it to the wall and exit the pool within 100 seconds.
On successful completion of the Lifeguard course, participants will receive an American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid, CPR/AED. Attendance of all scheduled dates and times is required.
LGI Classes:
American Red Cross Lifeguarding Class $275
This is an American Red Cross Blended Learning class. A 9-hour online course must be completed before the first day of in-water skills class. Participants are required bring in proof of completion. Please email lbrown@zcs.k12.in.us for the link after you have registered.
American Red Cross Lifeguarding Recertification Class $175
For current American Red Cross certified lifeguards only! MUST provide proof of current certification and required 300 yard swim, 20 yard swim to retrieve a 10 lb. brick and return with it to the wall and exit the pool within 100 seconds and 2 minutes treading water without the use of hands.
